SARS virus was created in weapons lab: Russian scientist

The virus of atypical pneumonia, better known as SARS, or Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, was created artificially, possibly as a bacteriological weapon, Sergei Kolesnikov, academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, told a press conference in the Siberian town of Irkutsk on Thursday, the Russian RIA Novosti news agency reported.

According to Kolesnikov, the virus of atypical pneumonia is a synthesis of the viruses of measles and infectious parotiditis or mumps, the natural compound of which is impossible. This can be done only in a laboratory, he said.

Kolesnikov added that in creating bacteriological weapons, a protective anti-viral vaccine is, as a rule, worked out at the same time, so a medicine for atypical pneumonia may soon appear.

He did not, however, rule out the possibility that the virus could have spread accidentally as a result of "an unsanctioned leakage" from a biological weapons laboratory.

This is what I've suspected all along, as the first people with symptoms were microbiologists and the Chinese government was very reluctant to allow WHO scientists in. I suspect that this is just the tip of the iceberg and I wonder why the mainsteam news media have not investigated this possibility.

I bet CNN probably knows the true answer, but they are keeping it to themselves to protect their office in china.

Ok, I'll stop now and go get my tin-foil hat...

But seriously, this is highly suspicious...

So, has the actual bug been isolated/identified by any researchers yet?

Just another way to control the earth's population without having to impose laws.

Ya, when I put my tinfoil hat on (it helps me think sometimes)I get ideas about the Chinese trying to control their population while doing the least amount of damage to their economy.

But the problem is, SARS is not lethal enough to take a big enough bite out of their population to make the effort worthwhile. On a cost/benefit ratio, it's more of a cost because of the panic that it would create.

On the other hand, maybe it's just a test run. If this is SARS-lite, the next generation might be something to be more concerned about.

How did you know I was wearing a tinfoil hat? Are you hacking into my web cam? get outta my head......
You know i am kidding right? Anyway what economy? Most Chinese people are goverment employed. A good shack up in their economy would give them a good excuse for war. The rest of the world would sit back in awe as the two big dogs USA and China fight it out. Then after the smoke clears, scoop up the spoils of the losers.

How to verify
something like this? First of all,
the academic

seems to be a real
live person. Here's his bio,
linked to a paper:

Professor Sergei Kolesnikov, M.D. is founder and First President of the Eastern Siberian Scientific Centre of Russian (former USSR) Academic Medical Science, Irkutsk, Russia. He is Head of the Science Department of the Institute of Paediatrics and Human Reproduction. Specialising in embryology, his work was recognised in 1994 by his inclusion in "5000 Personalities of the World," and in 1993 when he was included in "Who's Who in the World" and "Who's Who in Science and Technology." He is chief editor of the bulletin of the Eastern-Siberian Science Centre, and co-founder of the International University for Bio-Environment, Athens, Greece. Author of more than 200 scientific articles and six books, he now has more than 20 trained assistants who now work outside Russia for him, including USA, UK, Israel and CIS countries.
